Mathematics PhD Student at UCLA

About me

Hello! I am a PhD student in applied mathematics at UCLA. I am working with Deanna Needell in the area of numerical linear algebra. Currently, I am mainly interested in low-rank matrix approximation, efficient algorithms on kernel matrices, optimization of binary functions arrising in social choice theory, and numerical multilinear algebra in general. My undergraduate was at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, studying physics and math, but since then, I have gravitated much more towards the overlap of math and computer science. Before coming to UCLA I did research in control theory, accelerator physics and biological modelling; I also worked as a embedded systems software engineer in RF and motor control systems.
